xTool has introduced the C1 Color Cutter, a desktop device that combines CMYK inkjet printing, material scanning and blade cutting in a single workflow. The launch pushes the company beyond its established laser engraver and printer lineup into the dedicated craft cutter category, targeting hobbyists and small-scale makers who produce stickers, apparel and personalized gifts.
One machine replaces a multi-step process
Crafters making full-color projects have typically needed separate devices to print a design, then manually transfer and align the material before cutting it-a process prone to wasted material and misaligned layers, especially with vinyl, heat transfer sheets and paper. The C1 addresses this by printing directly onto a substrate and cutting it in the same sequence, which xTool says eliminates the need for boundary registration marks and frees up more usable surface area on each sheet.
A built-in scanner, using Contact Image Sensor technology, reads materials placed on the cutting bed and generates a full-scale preview inside xTool's software. The company says this helps users position designs precisely, make better use of material offcuts, and create contour cuts based on scanned shapes rather than digital templates alone.
Software and attachments extend its range
The C1 connects to xTool's Atomm design software, which can turn text prompts or uploaded images into cut-ready artwork. Listed tools include background removal, automatic line-art conversion, text generation and templates for papercraft projects, aimed at users who may not have design software experience.
The machine accepts several interchangeable tools, among them fine-point, deep-point, rotary and 3mm blades, along with foil-transfer tips and detail pens. Paired with optional accessories like an electrostatic mat or a roll holder with a built-in trimmer, xTool says it can work with paper, cardstock, vinyl, heat transfer vinyl, leather, balsa wood and fabric. The company also states that graphics printed with its Duraproof ink are waterproof and fade-resistant, and that fabric prints can endure up to 30 home washes.
Availability and pricing
In Australia, customers can reserve a unit with a A$15 deposit ahead of final payment, with the base model priced at A$779. Early buyers are also being offered an Exclusive Material Kit containing more than 10 crafting materials and a 20% discount card for future material purchases. Final payments and global shipping are scheduled to begin in November, giving xTool a foothold in a market where small-business sellers and hobbyists are increasingly looking for compact equipment that consolidates multiple production steps into one device.
